11 Ways to inspire movement and dance
Here are some of the ways I love to use to inspire my own movement/dance and for my students. Do you use any of these or are some of them new to you? Do you have any other ways? I invite you to take time to explore what inspires you to move and which ways are your favourites.

1 SOUND & MUSIC
Follow the melody, rhythm, feeling, a particular instrument/sound - play with them
Try different kinds of music and sounds
2 THINK OF A WAY YOUR LIKE TO MOVE
lets do some stretches, lets move in a particular way
lets practise these moves/steps…
3 FOLLOW SOMEONE ELSE
their moves and expression
4 IN SILENCE
just allow yourself to move and see what comes
allow something to move you - an energy, a aspect of nature,
5 USE YOUR EYES & WHAT YOU SEE
the space & objects around

7 MOVE WITH BREATH
8 MOVE TO BE HERE & NOW IN THE PRESENT MOMENT
9 MOVE WITH SENSATION
- feeling your physicality and sensation of your body moving, your bones, flesh, energy, sense the touch of your body as it moves
10 LISTEN TO YOUR BODY & WHAT IT NEEDS?
What does it need now? What will make me feel good? Eg - I need to relax my head, I need to stretch my shoulders, I need to share & loosen my hips
11 MOVE WITH CONCEPTS
- eg - speed, size, direction, flow, levels etc
