WHAT HAPPENS IN A SESSION?
Soulshine Dance always begins with a warm up and ends with a cool down. In the middle of the class we get moving and explore different kinds of movements and reflections.
In essence, the sessions may include working with some or many of the following (depending on its focus, duration and theme):
🌟CREATIVE DANCE
Exploring Laban concepts - (Space, Time, Force, Body)
Developing Skills - (learning & practising various movements & steps)
Creating your own patterns & sequences of movements (choreography). We may also use props - I especially LOVE scarves, balls and sticks!
🌟MEDITATION/MINDFULNESS
Being Aware & Present - connecting to our breath, body, senses, others, nature, etc
Creating positive thoughts & feelings
Cultivating love and compassion for ourselves & others
Connecting to our values & inner treasures - the goodness, power & beauty within
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU USE?
All the music is carefully chosen to be uplifting and healing. My favourite music genres are: natural, earthy, world, soul, funk, disco, pop, reggae, musical theatre, meditational and songs with inspirational lyrics. You are welcome to sing/sound along!
WHAT KIND OF SESSIONS DO YOU OFFER?
For my groups - I offer classes from 45mins to 1hr/2hrs , and longer workshops - 2.5hrs or more. Each session is tailored to the focus and theme and needs of the group.
I also work with people 1-1 - this can just be for one session or for longer. Please contact me if you are interested.
WHO IS THIS DANCE SUITABLE FOR?
Sessions can be tailored for all ages & abilities (from beginners to advanced - there is always something to benefit from, enjoy & learn). Please look at each individual listing to see if it is appropriate for you. We do work with/on the floor so if this is an issue for you you will need to adapt your moves. If you are unsure please contact me.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are looking for a class with lots of complex choreography - this is not for you. Also if you just want to do your own thing and not follow any structure or guidance for the whole session then this is also not for you.

About me….
I am dance artist/facilitator/performer with a passion for creativity, connection, expression and wellbeing. My sessions weave all that I love about dance, movement and meditation in a playful explorative way. I have extensive experience in facilitating a variety of classes, workshops and retreats for over 15 years.
Since a child I loved dancing but didn't think I was good enough - my teacher said I looked like a baby elephant! The dancing fire started to burn inside of me whilst clubbing in my teens and then in my early 20’s I discovered my passion for free expression dance with 5 rhythms and dancing in nature/with drums.
It was after that, my creative flame sparkled as I started to create my own dance workshops based on what I loved. Then for 12 years I taught the Nia Technique alongside developing my own methods of "dance meditation". I am a certified mindfulness, movement, meditation teacher and Dancing Mindfulness Facilitator. I have also done some training in Groove Dance, Biodanza and Contact Improvisation. I also love the methods of Creative Dance by Anne Gilbert (which I use in my classes).
I now weave together all that I love under the name of “Soulshine Dance” - this is my souls work and passion and it is constantly evolving. I am also passionate about moving in nature - lots of my sessions are nature-based.
In my many years teaching I have seen what I offer help people in a multitude of ways. People are really able to get in touch with their inner worlds, minds, hearts, bodies while in the dance, movement and stillness experience. Using reflective exercises and simple meditational thoughts, people are able to delve more into their inner worlds and open up opportunities for growth and self healing.
Music & movement & meditation have helped & moved me so much on my journey - I don’t know where I would be without its healing power - it is this i want to share with you...
